Demystifying Zika and The Real Cost of Your Employee's Health When Traveling

Description
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “all individuals planning travel should seek advice on the potential hazards in their chosen destinations and understand how best to protect their health and minimize the risk of acquiring disease.”  However, how does a company achieve familiarity with the health issues that may impact their business travelers and mitigate those known risks?  Since 2015, 65 countries and territories reported evidence of vector-borne Zika virus transmission and while Zika is in the news due to the Rio Olympics, what other health concerns should companies be informed about today?

The average international business trip costs about $10,000 yet when an employee falls ill and cannot complete the mission, not only is the cost of the trip lost, the company loses the revenue or savings from the deal that never got closed and also suffers operational impact as the employee recovers.  The average air ambulance medical evacuation ranges from $40,000 to $150,000 and medical costs vary greatly by country but in high cost locations, a company can also be looking at several hundred thousand dollars in medical costs.  Can these costs be avoided?

Join the GBTA Risk Committee and a panel of medical and health experts for a candid discussion about the reality of Zika and other current health concerns and learn how your company can be better prepared as it relates to the health and well-being of your traveling employees.

At the end of the session, participants should be able to:
  • Understand the details of current health issues, such as Zika, that are impacting business travelers today.
  • Quantify the importance of addressing employee health in regard to business travel.
  • Identify available medical information and assistance resources.
