Market Assessment of MICE Business Travel in China
Approved 1

China is the second largest business travel market in the world and is on the verge of passing the United States to become #1 as early as 2016.  While MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions) business travel in China is not quite as mature as the Transient business travel – which is comprised of travel for sales meetings, customer support, small internal company meetings, etc. – it represents an enormous economic activity and presents a large opportunity for travel suppliers.  In fact, we estimate that a total of $110 Billion USD (¥680 Billion CNY ) was spent by business travelers attending meetings & events in 2014.   We expect this market will continue to grow at a rapid pace as China’s economy expands, particularly as China’s service sector evolves. Joe Bates, Vice President of Research for GBTA will be presenting the results of this study with detail findings into the MICE market in China.
