Sustainable Corporate Travel in Europe
Environmental concerns, particularly, climate change, appear regularly in mainstream press, with recent headlines dominated by Greta Thunberg’s travels and news such as Eurostar’s and Thalys potential deal to provide sustainable travel. While efforts to increase environmental awareness have given rise to ecotourism and “flight shaming” in the consumer space, it’s unclear how these efforts impact corporate travel programmes. This study explores how corporate travel managers address sustainability in their travel programmes, and how environmental awareness might shape the future of corporate travel programmes. Key questions include:
- What are European travel managers doing to implement sustainable practices in their travel programme?
- Is sustainability an important topic to European travel managers?
- How will environmental awareness shape the future of corporate travel programmes in Europe?
- What opportunities exist for creating more sustainable travel programmes in Europe?
