Guidelines for the Ethical Use of AI in GBTA Educational Content

Guidelines for the Ethical Use of AI in GBTA Educational Content Creation

For Submission of GBTA Education Session Proposals

AI has the potential to enhance efficiency and spark creativity. As artificial intelligence (AI) tools become more widely used in business environments, contributors must understand how to use them responsibly, especially when creating training materials, presentations, or other internal educational resources.

To maintain content integrity, uphold our organizational values, and ensure alignment with regulatory and security standards, we ask all contributors to review and adhere to the following principles before submitting materials that may have been developed or supported with AI.

1. Transparency of AI Use

If you used AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Jasper, Claude, Gemini) to support your content development:

  • Disclose AI involvement briefly in a note or comment field.
  • Be clear about which portions were AI-assisted versus those that are original or curated by you.
  • Do not take an AI outcome at face value—review and verify outputs before including them.

Why it matters: Transparency builds trust and ensures reviewers understand the origin of content.

2. Human-Driven Content Creation

We will not accept submissions that are conceived entirely by AI.

All submissions must originate from a human-authored idea or learning objective. AI may be used to support content development — such as drafting, structuring, or enhancing clarity — but the topic, direction, and purpose must come from the contributor.

AI supports your voice — it should not replace it.

Why it matters: Maintains the integrity and originality of the session, with authentic, human insight driving the core message and learning objectives.

3. Human Oversight is Required

A human contributor must always review, edit, and approve AI-generated output before submission.

  • Always fact-check and cite original sources when including data, statistics, or industry trends derived from AI-assisted work.
  • Ensure the content reflects our business standards, terminology, and current practices.
  • Avoid over-reliance on AI for regulatory, legal, or policy guidance. Always consult source documents or SMEs when applicable.
Review for unintended stereotypes or exclusionary language. AI models may unintentionally reflect biases present in training data.
  • Ensure content is inclusive and culturally appropriate for a diverse, professional audience.

Reminder: You are responsible for the content you submit, even if AI helped generate it.

4. Protect Confidential and Sensitive Information

Do not enter the following into public AI tools:

  • Proprietary business processes
  • Financial, client, or vendor data
  • Personal identifiable information (PII) of employees or customers
  • Any non-public company data

If AI usage is allowed internally, use only company-approved platforms that meet your InfoSec standards.

5. Align with Organizational Learning Goals

AI-generated content should:

  • Reinforce approved training outcomes
  • Maintain a clear, professional tone appropriate for the audience
  • Support—not replace—critical thinking and discussion

If unsure whether the content fits, check the learning goals for the track you will submit for review. Ensure the submission is in line with the learning objectives.

6. Maintain Traceability, Documentation, and Disclosure

Keep a record of how AI was used. Contributors may be asked to disclose during proposal or presentation which AI tools were used and how they supported content development.

  • Which tool(s) were used?
  • Which sections were AI-assisted?
  • Who reviewed and approved the final version?

This ensures accountability and helps streamline the review process.

Final Note to Contributors

AI can enhance the content creation process by increasing efficiency and sparking ideas. However, in a professional setting, the final product's quality, accuracy, and appropriateness must always reflect human expertise and ethical responsibility.

"Does this content provide original educational value and reflect GBTA's standards of quality?

If the answer is yes—and you've followed the guidelines above—you’re on the right track.
